Tuesday 13 May from 6:30pm to 7:30pm
Join us for an opportunity to connect, learn, and share in a supportive and welcoming environment at our May LGBTIQA+ discussion group meeting.
This gathering is designed to bring people from the community together to chat, share ideas, and explore issues of importance to the LGBTIQA+ community. Think of it as a book club for short-form texts, enriched by the diverse perspectives and stories of its participants.
Each session is facilitated by guest activists, authors, and performers who not only guide the discussion but also invite attendees to share their own stories and insights. Before the event, participants will be informed of a selected text, which we will read together during the session and which will guide the discussion.
For our May edition, we are excited to welcome guest facilitator Daniel Nour.
Daniel Nour is an Egyptian-Australian journalist and a member of Sweatshop Literacy Movement. His debut memoir, How to Dodge Flying Sandals, is set for release with Simon and Schuster in May 2025. His work explores the intersections of queerness, culture and faith. In this discussion, Daniel will be drawing on a selection of his writings to explore the ways in which queer people of colour defy conventional notions of pride, deftly navigating faith, family and culture.
Stay tuned for more information and come prepared for an inspiring and thought-provoking session. We look forward to seeing you there!
