This is our most interactive and in-depth stand-up comedy course. You will help you to master the art of storytelling, joke-writing - and then you'll present your set at a LIVE SHOW!

Course Overview

Master stand-up comedy and be a better storyteller on stage, at work, and socially!

This course is extremely practical and will give you a lot of tools to use straight away.

You will learn the science behind jokewriting, dive deep into your personal style of humour, learn a large number of joke structures and writing techniques, create your own set, practice with a mic, and learn the art to crowdwork.

Best of all, you will grow your stage presence, confidence, and ability to wow others in a range of settings.

After the course, you will be able to participate in our grad show at the Sydney Comedy School.

Topics

  • Joke-writing: We will teach you the structure of a joke and how you can maximise laughs.

  • Storytelling: You will become more confident in telling stories that resonate with audiences.

  • Stage presence: We will help you to improve your presence when on stage and in social situations.

  • Crowd work: Gain new skills in how to better interact with crowds.

  • Scriptwriting: Learn techniques that will improve your writing ability and creativity.

  • Public speaking: Gain new public speaking skills that will improve your timing, delivery and confidence when on stage and speaking with others.

Duration

  • This course is either held over 4-weeks, with each session going for 2.5 hours. It is the same date and time for 4 weeks.

  • The grad show is generally held on the Saturday straight after the final session.
