Unleash your creativity and explore the exciting world of creative coding in this hands-on workshop at the Darling Square Library Makerspace!

Unlike traditional coding, which focuses on solving problems, creative coding is all about self-expression, creativity, and organic design. You’ll learn both beginner and advanced techniques to bring digital art to life using code, creating visually stunning and unexpected results.

This workshop is perfect for young people who wants to experiment with coding in a fun, artistic way—whether you're completely new to programming or ready to take your skills to the next level. By the end of the session, you’ll have a unique, custom artwork to print and take home, showcasing your own digital creativity.

What you’ll learn:

  • Our experienced facilitator Jared Berghold will guide you through coding to make your very own computer-generated artwork!

What you’ll have access to:

  • All materials provided to create your artwork

  • Computing devices: high powered laptops

  • A hard copy postcard size (6” x 4”) print of your artwork on photo paper to take home

Details:

  • Cost: $10 for each child (accompanying adults are free)

  • Bookings and class size: maximum 10 children – bookings essential

  • Suitable for: children aged 12 to 16 years

  • Experience level: suitable for beginner to intermediate students

About the facilitator: The workshop will be led by Jared Berghold. Jared is a creative coder who has been making art with code for over 15 years. Jared co-created the interactive artwork Always Coming, Always Going for Vivid Sydney in 2017 and later founded the Creative Coding Studio: www.creativecoding.studio
