Come and get techie at Reginald Murphy Community Centre

Join us the third Wednesday of the month, until November for these free one-on-one sessions with library staff at Reginald Murphy Community Centre. Sessions run for a maximum of 20 minutes. Bookings are recommended as places are limited.

Bring your own device (smartphone / iPad / tablet / laptop) or use one of the library computers. 

The Reginald Murphy Community Centre is open Monday to Friday, 9:30am to 3:30pm. There is a table tennis table, computers, wifi, a piano, books to borrow and sewing machines. A community lunch is held every Wednesday and Thursday at midday for $9. Everyone is welcome.  

Terms and Conditions 

One-on-one sessions run for a maximum of 20 minutes. 

Library team members will assist with basic support as detailed by the Australian Government’s Office of eSafety’s Be Connected program including: 

  • basic device use including smartphones, iPads/tablets, laptops and computers 

  • basic app/software program use including web browser, word processing, email 

  • basic internet searching including keyword searches, navigating websites, bookmarking favourite websites 

  • basic email assistance including creating an email account, accessing your emails, sending/receiving, attaching documents to an email 

  • basic online safety including creating strong passwords, useful eSafety websites 

  • basic online forms including searching for the right form, navigating online forms 

  • how to use Be Connected website and access the free online courses. 

Our team members are unable to assist customers with support for tech issues including, but not limited to, more in-depth issues including: 

  • job applications 

  • online training courses/inductions 

  • school, university or TAFE course homework or completing assignments (e.g. university/TAFE) 

  • completing online forms outside of the Be Connected module 

  • intermediate or advanced-level computer, device or software training 

  • buying and selling online 

  • building websites 

  • banking, finance and legal documents.
